Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

With all of the health concerns coming out at this time of year, remember the BEST thing you can do is to wash your hands!!

**********************************************

ALL students must turn in an emergency card.  This is very important.  We must be able to contact the parents or guardians if there is an emergency.  We cannot even authorize emergency treatment unless we have this card.  Please fill it out and send it back as soon as possible.

*If there is a change of address or phone number during the school year, please let the nurse know As Soon As Possible!    This is VITAL!

*Please list any and all allergies or asthma on the emergency card.  If there are any conditions that we should be aware of, please be sure to list those as well.

***********************************************

Any student with asthma must have:
                  1.  Medication at school
                  2.  Parental Consent Form
                  3.  Asthma Action Plan

Any student with an epipen must have:
                  1.  Medication at school
                  2.  Note from the physician

The school nurse may administer  medications if it has been prescribed by a doctor and it has a pharmacy label with the pupil's name, the dosage, title, and directions for giving it.  The parent or guardian must send in a written request to the school that the nurse administer it to the child.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Pulaski's custodians have implemented protocols for cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting students' classrooms, as well as common areas of the school.  We will continue to stay vigilant about sanitizing areas of the school where students come into close contact.

Swine flu symptoms are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, lethargy, headache, chills, and fatigue.  Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu.  The best ways to avoid getting or spreading it include covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, washing hands often with soap and water (hand sanitizers are also effective), and avoiding contact with sick people.  If a member of your family becomes ill, seek a doctor's care immediately.  Students who show signs of flu should not be sent to school.

DRESS GUIDELINES

School pride and spirit begin with one's school appearance and attitude.  All students are expected to dress and groom in an 'appropriate' manner.  In previous years, students had free choices in clothing.  This year there is a school uniform that all students are expected to comply with.  Shoes must be worn at all times.  Hats, coats, and jackets are not to be worn in school.  Students will be well groomed, clean, and neat.  For more information on the School Uniform Dress Code click here.

  • Shirts:  Students will wear a white, light blue, or navy blue shirt or blouse with a collar.
         *  Polo-style shirts, button-down shirts, and turtleneck shirts are permitted.
         *  Sleeveless shirts or T-shirts are NOT permitted.

  • Pants:  Students will wear navy blue pants, shorts, skirts, or jumpers.
         *  Denim jeans and sweat pants* are NOT permitted.
         *  Shorts, skirts, scooters, and jumpers may not be shorter than 4 inches above the knee.
         *  Clothing must be worn at the natural waist.

  • Sweaters:  Students may wear navy blue sweaters or sweatshirts.
         *  All long-sleeve solid navy blue crewneck, V-neck, or cardigan sweaters, fleece, or sweatshirts must be worn with a white collared shirt, turtleneck, or blouse.  NO hooded apparel.
         *  Outer garments (coats and jackets) must be stored in the student's classroom or locker and may not be carried in school.

  • Footwear:  Shoes must be navy blue, black, or brown in color; no open heel or toes permitted.
         *  Shoes must be securely fastened.  Clogs, flip-flops, and bedroom slippers are NOT permitted.

  • Sizing:  Clothing must be sized to fit the student.  Pants should fit appropriately and should not be too tight or too loose.  Shirts should be appropriate size and should not extend below the hip.

  • Head wear:  Students may not wear hats, hoods, sweatbands, bandannas, or sunglasses while in the school building.

*  It may be acceptable for some students with special needs or extenuating circumstances to wear navy blue sweat pants.
