The lights are on once again at Newark High
School's Hoffman Stadium! The NHS Stadium Fund has
succeeded in its initial project of replacing the lighting
system in the stadium; we are also in the process of securing
and installing a brand new, state-of-the-art public address
system.
We would not have kept the "Friday Night Lights"
tradition alive without the help, support, and guidance of many,
many people. An extremely generous benefactor has extended
to the NHS Stadium Fund an interest free loan in order to
expedite our original initiative. The Christina School
District has offered to support our plans in any way they can.
Newark High School's new Principal Curt Bedford and Athletic
Director Tanya Braun-Webb have also given the Stadium Fund
invaluable guidance and support.
The Coaches, parents, Alumni and friends who
make up the NHS Stadium Fund would like to extend their
heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have helped make this
dream a reality. We are off to a great start and we want
to stress that this is just the beginning. Our capital
campaign is $100,000. We have not quite reached the
halfway point of our goal. We hope that the newly visible
progress will encourage people in the community to continue in
their support of our vision. Ultimately, we would like to
have a new playing surface on our field, rehabilitate or add to
the "Hive", rehabilitate the concession area, and install
permanent bathrooms in our stadium area. The plans will
only come to fruition with the continued support of the
Community. We hope that we have shown you that the Stadium
Fund is in this for the long run. If you have any
questions or can offer any help, please feel free to call our
Secretary, Kelly Fowler at 302-266-8104 or e-mail her at
