New Castle County Orchestra Festival Scheduled for April 2
Student
string ensembles from across New Castle County will gather on
April 2 for the first annual New Castle County Orchestra
Festival. The festival was developed by orchestra
faculty
from Brandywine, Christina, and Red Clay Consolidated School
Districts. Each school district’s ensemble will perform,
followed by a personal clinic. The groups will then merge into
a unified ensemble for a combined rehearsal clinic run by Dr.
Johannes Dietrich, Associate Professor of Music at Lebanon
Valley College. The students will perform three developmentally
tiered works for orchestra, including the premiere of a
commissioned work by world renowned composer, Erik Morales. The
program will conclude with a combined concert at P.S. DuPont
Elementary School. Participating schools include Cab Calloway
School for the Performing Arts, A.I. DuPont High School,
Newark High School, Concord High School and Mount Pleasant
High School.
