Networks students not only develop
competency-based career skills, but also
participate in a standards-based curriculum
of academic courses. Students can
receive high school credit in English,
Mathematics, Computer Literacy and
Employability Skills.
Networks Language Arts
Students develop and strengthen reading,
writing and oral language skills appropriate
for the work world. Literature
selections have themes that enhance
employability skills and inspire students to
read further. Students develop their
oral language skills to help them formulate,
organize and deliver information.
Networks Mathematics
Students learn to solve problems,
communicate, reason and connect math to the
work world. They build on estimation,
measurement and computation skills needed in
many jobs and to live independently.
Computer Literacy
Students learn the proper
use of the keyboard and build speed and accuracy through regular
practice. Computer applications are completed using standard
business software, with emphasis on world processing and
spreadsheets. Employability Skills
Students develop and practice the necessary
skills for career success. Students
learn to complete job applications, write
resumes, role play job interviews and job
retention situations, and complete career
interest assessments. Students are
expected to participate in community-based
field lessons and interact with guest
speakers. Mock interviews, job
shadowing, and career portfolio development
are key aspects of the employability skills
component of Networks. |
