Employers
increasingly need workers who can think,
learn new skills rapidly, work
independently or as a part of a team,
and solve problems creatively.
That's
what the Christina School District's
Networks program does. Networks give
students, ages 16 to 21,
who are best
suited to learning outside the
traditional classroom setting, the
opportunity to complete their high
school education while learning career
and independence skills. Networks
students become responsible, productive,
life-long learners and citizens through
the integration of academic and
career/technical experiences. Networks
students learn valuable skills that will
help them succeed in the work world
after high school.
Networks
combines career and academic experiences
through hands-on training in a
real-world work environment. While
attending the Networks program for all
or part of the school day, students are
earning credits towards completion of a
high school diploma or certificate of
attendance. Under the guidance of a
strong instructional staff or teachers,
job coaches and peer mentors, students
receive training in one of 11 career
technical enterprises/mini-businesses
supported by academic instruction.
Networks provides students with a place
to develop their intellect, higher-level
thinking skills and problem-solving
techniques. |
