Keene
has participated in the PBIS program or Positive Behavior Interventions and
Supports for the past two years. The
goal of PBIS at Keene is to minimize inappropriate behaviors by teaching
students how to manage themselves appropriately. A core committee of
staff members at Keene developed four principles that students are
expected to follow. Students receive PAWS as incentives for
following the school-wide rules. PAWS can be traded in for various
rewards in the classroom. Rewards may include but are not limited to
treats, school store coupons, and the opportunity to eat lunch with a
friend or teacher.

In November, 2003 Keene received
an award for implementing the PBIS program. It's success has
motivated students and teachers to be the best that they can be.
