reader that indicates understanding across all content areas, as
measured by the Delaware Student Testing Program and school-wide
assessments.
- Christina School District
Goal English/Language
Arts:
By 2006, all students and all disaggregated populations will be
able to read, comprehend, and write at or above the proficiency level

| The
Four-BlocksŪ Balanced Literacy Approach This
is the curriculum that is used in all classrooms across the school. The
Four-BlocksŪ framework was developed by teachers who believed that to be
successful in teaching ALL children to read and write, we were going to
have to do it ALL! Daily
instruction in the Four-BlocksŪ provides numerous and varied
opportunities for every child to learn to read and write. Engaging in each
of the Four-BlocksŪ acknowledges that children do not all learn in the same way
and provides substantial instruction to support whatever learning
personality a child comes with. For a detailed description of the Four-BlocksŪ
approach click here Four-BlocksŪ |
| The 6+1 Traits
Analytic Trait Model This
is the model for writing instruction used across the school. The
6-trait writing model is a way to teach and assess writing. This model
focuses on 6 qualities seen in outstanding written works with an added
quality that makes the writing outstanding. For more information on the
6+1 Traits model click here 6+1
