First Grade News
First grade enjoyed a fun Penguin Day in December. They were busy moving from room to room doing all kinds of penguin activities. They created art, played math games, wrote informative pieces and sequenced story events all pertaining to the penguin theme. Be sure to ask your child to tell you at least three facts about penguins.
We also enjoyed learning about the many interesting traditions our first grade families have. They ranged from summer reunions, weekend morning rituals, family game/movie nights, to annual holiday activities. We learned that our students look forward to these special family times.
Continue to encourage your child to read daily for Book Club. Remember, practice makes perfect. Please have him or her total up the minutes read for the week using a calculator.
We’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback from our parents about our daily communication tool (the point card). Remember, if there’s anything you need us to know, please jot it on your child’s point card and we’ll be sure to see it.
Wishing you all the best in the New Year!
