"Hats for Haiti" Fundraiser Raises $3,042 for Earthquake Victims!


CHS Class of 2010 raised $400 in the "Hats for Haiti" fundraiser!

The students and staff of Christiana High School held a "Hats 4 Haiti" fundraiser beginning Monday, January 25.  A number of student organizations collected $1 donations from students and staff during lunch periods the week of  January 25-29.  For their $1 donation, participates were allowed to wear the hat of their choice in the hallways and classrooms all day on Friday, January 29.  To encourage participation, a friendly competition was held between the grades.  After a slow start at the beginning of the week, juniors Fred Green and Porsha Harvey rallied their class and in a very close race, the Class of 2011 was the winning team raising $400, earning them a pizza and soda party in the school's cafeteria Friday afternoon. 

The event was a huge success with 99% of the 1135 students participating raising a total of $1,520 which will be matched by the United Way of Delaware bringing the total of this CHS fundraiser to $3,042!
