Outstanding Hispanic Student Awards are
Presented to Christina Students
The Hispanic Student Recognition Program
sponsored by the Latin American Community
Center presented its Academic Awards and
Outstanding Student Awards in late April,
and several Christina School District
students were among the winners. Nine high
school students and nine middle school
students were nominated. Three students
received winning awards. Martha
Lopez of Gauger-Cobbs Middle School was
named the Outstanding Hispanic Female Middle
School Student of the Year and received
ribbons, a plaque, and a $250 award.
Angelica Montes of Christiana High
School was named the Outstanding Hispanic
Female High School Student of the Year and
received ribbons, a plaque, a laptop
computer, a $500 award, and a scholarship
from Wilmington College to attend one free
class of her choice. Gabriella Droz
of Christiana High School received an
Academics Honorable Mention Award.
Secretary of Education and former Christina
School District Superintendent Lillian
Lowery recognized the students for their
achievements. Congratulations to all
of the students who were nominated and
recognized.
