  • To provide the teachers, administrators, and staff of the Christina School District with the appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities that allow high levels of performance
  • To ensure that all activities are aligned with the Christina School District Mission Statement and Strategic Plan

Definition of Professional Development
Professional development is a combination of focused, in-depth learning, practice, feedback, and expert support experiences designed to change participants' attitudes, insights, and/or perspectives; and ultimately results in improved professional practice. Effective professional development programs include ample opportunities for knowledge acquisition, skill mastery, descriptive feedback, and refinement of practice in the work setting.

  • Cohesive
  • Data-driven and targeted
  • Research-based
  • Collaborative
  • Supported and sustained
  • Systemic opportunities that result in improved student learning
  • One-day or short-term workshops
  • Conferences
  • Isolated learning activities with little or no follow-up support
  • Professional learning not associated with improving student achievement
