High School Programs & Requirements

The Christina School District publishes a High School Planning Guide each year to assist students in selecting courses that will meet all graduation requirements andChristina students working at desks provide a solid career pathway and preparation for post-secondary education.  Students are required to complete credit requirements in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Health, Computer Literacy, World Language, and a Career Pathway, and may also choose from a variety of elective courses.  The High School Planning Guide is available in January of each year from high school guidance offices and on each high school website.

All three high schools offer opportunities for Advanced Placement (AP) classes covering a broad range of subjects.  At Christiana High School, some unique program features include business technology, visual and performing arts, agricultural sciences, and Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp.  Glasgow High School offers agri-science and horticulture, business technology, design and technology, family and consumer sciences, and Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp.  Newark High School offers programs in business, finance, and information technology, creative expression media/telecom, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), human services and leadership, and Cambridge Program.

The Christina School District also participates in the Tech Prep program, which allows students to complete college credits in some subject areas while still in high school.  Participating colleges include Delaware State University, Delaware Tech, Goldey Beacom College, Pennsylvania Institute of Technology, University of Delaware, and Wilmington University.  For more information, please visit the following website:  www.techprepdelaware.org/district-christina.html

Sarah Pyle Academy for Academic Intensity is a non-traditional high school which accelerates achievement and credit recovery for those students who have been unable to attain success in the traditional  high school environment.  Networks School Based Enterprises program gives students, ages 16 to 21 who are best suited to learning outside the traditional classroom setting, the opportunity to complete their high school education while learning career and independence skills.
