A Message from Christina Superintendent Dr.
Marcia Lyles
Dear Christina Friends and Colleagues:
At
the Tuesday, December 13 Board of Education
meeting, I made the announcement that I have
decided not to seek an extension of my
contract. I will continue to serve as
Superintendent for the next
six months, but my last day will be June 30,
2012.
This decision was an especially difficult
one for me. I have, quite frankly, prayed on
it, consulted family and friends, and made
long lists of pros and cons in arriving at
my decision. Since my Christina journey
began in 2009, I have had the honor and
privilege to work with and on behalf of some
of the most talented and dedicated staff,
families, community members, and students I
have encountered in my nearly 40-year
career. Together we crafted a compelling
vision, fueled by a relentless commitment to
excellence and equity and a deep belief in
what we could and must accomplish on behalf
of every student. In two and a half
years we have traveled far, and I know there
is much more to be done. However, I
also know that the work that we started
together will continue, and this district
will succeed because of our community's
dedication to Christina’s students and
schools.
I am confident that Christina will continue
to move forward in the future, and every
step I take in the next six months will be
to ensure that the district continues its
pursuit of excellence every day, in every
classroom, and for every child in Christina.
For every child,
Marcia V. Lyles, Ed.D. |
