Christina Board Approves First Reading of Draft
Strategic Plan
On March 9, the Christina Board
of Education approved the first reading of the
Christina Plan for Excellence 2010-2013, the
District's strategic plan. The plan has
been posted on the
District website, and employees are encouraged
to read and review the plan and share feedback.
It includes 5 goals:
- Excellence and Equity - For
Every Child, In Every
Classroom, In Every School
- Learning Environment -
Successful Students,
Successful Schools
- Organized to Educate - Engaged,
Effective, Empowered Workforce
- Strengthened Partnerships -
Parent and Community Partners
- Bold Explorations - New
Frontiers for Exploration
The draft
also includes a timeline and performance
targets to measure success. The draft
plan was developed after months of
community meetings that engaged parents,
students, teachers, and community
members in an ongoing discussion.
Participants looked at the past,
confronted the present, and envisioned
the future, and feedback was gathered
through multiple sources. From this
feedback, themes and ideas emerged,
which were further developed into
objectives and strategies for achieving
the goals of the plan. Many people in
the Christina community volunteered
their time and effort to the Strategic
Planning process, and we extend our
sincere thanks to everyone who was
involved. Please take time to read and
review the draft plan, and continue to
share your feedback and ideas.
