Senator Carper Helps Kick Off PEP Grant for Healthy Kids
Funding from Nemours Health and Prevention Services will Support Programs in Nine Schools
Senator Carper and Superintendent Lyles help kick off PEP Grant for Healthy Kids at Downes Elementary School

Senator Tom Carper attended a gym class with kindergarten students from Downes Elementary School on January 12 to help the District and the Nemours Senator Carper helps kick off PEP Grant for Healthy Kids at Downes Elementary SchoolFoundation highlight a grant that will bring increased physical activity to students in nine district schools.

Nemours wants to promote 150 minutes per week of school-based physical activity for elementary students in Delaware by providing a combination of materials and equipment, teacher training, and online resources.  Carper and the kindergarten students demonstratedSenator Carper helps kick off PEP Grant for Healthy Kids at Downes Elementary School some ways to keep in shape including skipping, dancing and hula-hooping.  The class was lead by physical education teacher  Sandy Hudson.
