Christina School District Seeks
Volunteers
to Serve on Annual Code of Conduct Review Committee
The Christina School District is seeking parent and
community volunteers to serve on the District’s
2010-2011 Student Code of Conduct Review Committee.
This committee is formed every year for the purpose
of reviewing the current
Student Code of Conduct and considering proposed
changes. Christina will continue this annual
review process again this year, and will work
collaboratively with the state’s School Discipline
Task Force to address the Task Force’s
recommendations. The Task Force is expected to file
a report by January 15, 2010.
“We welcome involvement by the community in making
the Student Code of Conduct fair and equitable to
all students,” said Christina Superintendent Dr.
Marcia V. Lyles. “The District has invited public
feedback on the Student
Code of Conduct every year for many years, and this
year
is no exception. We may see a larger number of
people engaged in this issue this year, and that’s a
good thing. We may see some changes and
recommendations coming from the state’s Discipline
Task Force, and that’s a good thing, too. We are
ready to hear from the public and to work together
to develop a Student Code of Conduct that reflects
our community’s goals for school discipline and
student safety.”
Interested members of the public are invited to
attend the first meeting of the Student Code of
Conduct Review Committee on Thursday, January 7 at
7:00 p.m. at Keene
Elementary School. If you are interested
in becoming involved
in the Review Committee, but cannot attend the first
meeting, please call Christina’s School Discipline
Office at 552-2632 to have your name added to the
contact list for future meetings and communication
about the Committee.
