CHANGE TO ELIMINATION PERIOD - DISABILITY INSURANCE PROGRAM (DIP)

The Fiscal Year 2011 Budget Act and Grant-In-Aid Bill included language to reduce the elimination period in the Short Term Disability program from 60 calendar days to 30 calendar days for disabilities that begin on or after August 1, 2010.  Employees enrolled in DIP who expect to be out of work for at least 30 calendar days must file an Short Term Disability claim with The Hartford no later than 15 calendar days from your date of disability.  Approved Short Term Disability claims will commence on the 31st calendar day of disability.
