Mission Statement:

The mission of Gauger-Cobbs Middle School, an innovative and nurturing community of diverse individuals, is to develop strong academic achievement and enduring social and emotional growth through a team approach that challenges the unique strengths of each learner.

 Curriculum Highlights:

Students at Gauger-Cobbs Middle School are placed on an interdisciplinary instructional team.  Our schedule is an A/B block schedule allowing for extended time on task.  We offer a “double dose” English Language Arts and Math, meaning these classes meet every day.  This allows for extension of the curriculum as well as for intervention based on individual student needs.  Students may apply to be a part of our AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination) program.  This national program is designed to help students maximize their potential.  Students who are part of the AVID program are expected to enroll in the most challenging course we offer, including, integrated math and Spanish, and will benefit from the support of outside tutors.  AVID also provides all teachers with strategies to help all students learn at high levels.  All students will engage in exploratory classes such as art, health/physical education, computer and family and consumer science.
