The Christina Early Childhood
Assistance Program (ECAP) serves low-income preschool children
and children with developmental delays. The
comprehensive preschool program was
established in November 1999 and offers
part day preschool classrooms
and part-day with a full-day child
care option.
What sets us apart
Funded through the Department of Education, our program builds
on the proven success of the Head Start Program. Our
comprehensive services follow Head Start's performance
standards as well as those developed by the Christina
School District. Our emphasis is on providing each
preschooler with the most developmentally appropriate and
effective early childhood education possible, one that
incorporates problem solving, exploration, and learning through play.
Everyone involved in the
Christina ECAP - teachers, parents and guardians, community
members - work together to create an educational experience that
strengthens the children's school readiness, and helps to ensure
their future academic success. Creating healthy families
is an integral part of ECAP.
Eligibility requirements for the program are:
- Child must be 4 by August 31st
- Family must live at or below the current
federal
poverty guidelines
- Child must live in or attend a child care
program in the Christina School District
The Christina ECAP staff inspires parents to
develop stronger relationships with their children, the school,
and their community. In addition to the preschool, we
offer home visits, parent workshops and referral services
designed to meet the emotional, social, health, and educational
needs of our preschool children and their families. We
believe that if you provide early supports in the home
environment and encourage parents to be actively involved in
their children's education, children will be given the necessary
foundation for continued learning success.
