Our programs are offered in safe,
well-maintained and orderly schools, and our
staff strives to meet the individual needs
of each student.
Parent Involvement
All
schools in the Christina School District
operate under the guiding principles of
shared decision-making. Site Councils
made up of parents, staff and building
administrators have a voice in instruction,
staffing, discipline, and other areas of
school operations.
Traditional parent
involvement groups including active Parent
Teacher Associations and a dedicated group
of parent volunteers, all contribute to the
community's investment in education.
In addition, Christina has adopted the first
Parent and Family Involvement and
Partnerships Policy in Delaware.
Our Community
The
Christina School District is Delaware's
largest public school system, with over
17,000 students. Christina employs
just over 2,000 people. Our District
currently serves the City of Newark and its
surrounding suburban areas as well as a
portion of the City of Wilmington.
The area is rich in
culture and attractions, featuring museums,
performing arts centers, and historical
sites connected to our nation's founding.
Parks, wildlife areas, family attractions,
restaurants and a wide variety of
recreational opportunities are located
nearby. We are also close to other
major cities including Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland.
Major employers and
higher education institutes are located
nearby as well, including the University of
Delaware, Delaware Technical and Community
College, Bank of America, AstraZeneca, W. L.
Gore, DuPont and the Christiana Care Center. A number of quality healthcare
facilities and hospitals are also closely
located. Our community is accessed
easily by Interstate 95, Amtrak and commuter
airlines, making it simple to get here from
major metropolitan areas. |
