Keene Vegetable Garden is Part
of
Healthy Kids Initiative |

The Christina Child Nutrition
Services Department is proud to
announce the start of Phase 1 of
the Keene Elementary School
Vegetable Garden. On April 9,
2008 staff, students and
volunteers, along with Child
Nutrition Services Supervisor
Tony Williams and Dr. Thianda
Manzara, Founder and Director of
the Healthy Foods for Healthy
Kids project, came together to
construct six box gardens. The
mission of Healthy Foods for
Healthy Kids is to inspire and
motivate youth to develop
lifelong wholesome eating habits
by helping them experience
the joy of growing, cooking, and
enjoying garden-fresh produce.
The Keene Garden is part of the
CNS Education Cultivation
project, which is one of the
initiatives of the CSD Wellness
Policy.
