The Awards

Asia Price/Nicole Cantara Memorial

Guidelines | Nomination Form

  • Who is eligible?:  Students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade in all elementary schools.  Two students are selected as the overall winners.
  • Purpose:  This award recognizes students who best exemplify the qualities that Asia Price and Nicole Cantara demonstrated as students - helpfulness, perseverance and good citizenship.
Charlie B. Friswell Memorial

Combined Application Form

  • Who is eligible?:  Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades as well as 7th grade science students. 
  • Purpose:  To enrich formal education by awarding twelve students a week of day camp at the Delaware Aerospace Academy.
High School Scholarships

Information Sheet

  • Who is eligible?:  Students graduating from district high schools.  Assists one graduate from each high school as they pursue further education.
  • Purpose:  Award those students who have demonstrated the most improvement throughout their high school years.
Kwapinski Award

Guidelines | Nomination Form

  • Who is eligible?  Students in grades K-5
  • Purpose:  The purpose of this award is to recognize a K-5 student who has a potential talent, ability or interest in learning.  This award is intended to recognize a student who must work very hard to achieve average results. 
Lend-A-Hand Guidelines | Nomination Form
  • Who is eligible?:  Middle school students in grades 7 and 8.  One student is selected as the overall district winner.
  • Purpose:  Recognizes a student who has given special services to school and community.
Raymond T. Metts Memorial

Guidelines | Nomination Form

  • Who is eligible?:  Special needs students in grades Kindergarten through 12 in all schools.
  • Purpose:  Established in memory of Raymond Metts to honor deserving students for potential talent, ability and interests.
Visual and Performing Arts Award

Guidelines | Application Form

  • Who is eligible?:  Students in grades 2-5 who are eligible for free or reduced lunch in all elementary schools.  Twelve students will receive scholarships for lessons or camps.
  • Purpose:  The purpose of the Visual and Performing Arts Award is to recognize students in grades 205 who have shown commitment to education and who show an interest in the arts.  Award winners in Visual Arts will receive 2 weeks of summer camp at the Newark Arts Alliance.  Winners of the Performing Arts Award will receive 1 semester (18 classes) of instruction at the Newark Performing Arts.
