It is my honor to accept the invitation
of the Christina School Board to serve
as superintendent of the Christina
School District. This is an exciting
time for the Christina School
District and I am looking forward to
partnering with staff, students,
families and the community in
Christina’s quest for excellence for
every child, in every class, in every
school.
I know that over the next few months I
will be talking to many of you to learn
more about your vision for Christina,
what you believe is working well, what
you believe should be improved, and the
role you want to play in Christina’s
rise to the top. I will want to
discover how you believe the people,
programs and practices in our schools
and communities enrich the academic and
social lives of our students, provide
them with the knowledge, skills and
attitudes to shape the present, and
prepare them for their future.
I already know that we share a belief in
the need for high expectations and
standards for everyone, in the
importance of supported, talented and
qualified educators and in the power of
the home, school and community
collaboration. I also know that while
there will be challenges ahead, there is
no more important mission we must
undertake, and we will only succeed if
we undertake it together.
As Sandra Day O’Connor noted, “We don’t
accomplish anything in this world
alone…and whatever happens is the result
of the whole tapestry of life and all
the weavings of individual threads from
one to another that creates something.”
On the journey together, for every
child,
Marcia V. Lyles, Ed.D.
